What is africana games?

This series defines an Africana Game quite narrowly. Any game that features a main protagonist who is: 1) Black or African Diaspora and 2) Non-Optional.
Though this series seeks to highlight and celebrate Black and African people and their cultures, these restrictions result in some oversights that nonetheless provide insightful representation of black culture.
Twofold:
1) To provide a resource for Black and African Diaspora players to find games that represent us, or reflect our cultures in interesting and entertaining way. Providing both opportunities for fun and self-reflection.
and
2) To highlight, by contrast, how uncommon the landscape of video game stories center people of color as heroes or protagonists. Even as we are included, we are often treated as secondary to the concern of relatability to an imagined “core audience” that only relates to characters through the lens of race.
